I just pruned this Caragana. All dead branches, all branches that crossed It takes a bit of courage to prune to minimum but it can be fun. It reminds me of my father who insisted on the carrots being thinned to proper distance and I would wail over the lost carrots. Now I have seen plants come back to life for 62 years I should trust it by now

It is snowing and they forecast rain and wet snow for the next 48 hours, good time to be inside and enjoy that the newly planted bareroot trees get watered from above. Two things get done at the same time: the plants get watered and I get time at the computer. Three things: the mulch gets watered and settles in
